Ancient Rome Art: Exclusive Tour of Priceless Artifacts on Bay of Naples
Ancient Rome: Exclusive Tour of Priceless Artifacts in Villa Arianna, Stabiae, on the Bay of Naples Italy. WebVisionItaly editors Ron and Deborah Del Sesto stop at Villa Arianna on their Campania travels around the Bay of Naples, Sorrentine Peninsula, and Amalfi coast. Here the ancient Roman frescoes, sculpture, and architecture is all in its original form preserved by ashes from Mt. Vesuvius on the last night in 79A.D when it buried the famous ancient Roman city Pompeii.
The blue, yellow, and gold pigments seen in the fresoces in Villa Arianna is unique and different in color from what is seen in Pompeii' ruins, which are famous for painting in colors of Pompeii red and black, colors common in the Villa Arianna frescoes. The amazing use of perspective in painting by the ancient Romans is seen in many of the fresco paintings that line the walls of Villa Arianna, and the use of pipes and plumbing for hot and cold water as well as toilets, demonstrates the ancient Roman lifestyle was "modern" with an emphasis on celebrating humanity, the culture of art, music, food, and spirituality. The lifestyle of the Bay of Naples at the time of Christ, as depicted in scenes in the fresco paintings on the walls of the villa,
was to say the least, luxurious by modern-day standards. Villa Arianna is an architectural marvel filled with paintings, sculptures, gardens, techniques used by ancient Romans here n these villas on the Bay of Naples not seen again until the Renaissance. A visit here to see the ancient Roman lifestyle would make any modern-day emperor jealous.
Stabiae and the villas full of priceless arts were the subject of a Smithsonian magazine article and the focus of a 2008 exhibit in Washington D.C., which included pieces of fresco, sculpture, and artifacts from ancient Stabiae. WebVisionItaly Bay of Naples Art Tour is the only Italy tour that escorts its guests to Villa San Marco and Villa Arianna in the ancient city of Stabiae to see priceless works of art.

June Festivals in Italy - Italy Right Now - Umbria, Verona, Rome
June is festival Month in Italy's regions. The Giro d'Italia that seduced the country and Italy-lovers during May gives way to authentic festivals in Italy's towns.
If you are traveling in Italy during the first week of June be sure to plan around the June 2 holiday, the national holiday celebrating the Festa della Republica - Italy's birthday - is celebrated in all Italy's regions. Italy's trains to the spiaggia, the beach, from places like Florence, Bologna, Parma, Rome, Turin, and Milan to the beaches are full. Also, the highways are packed with cars full of the Italian vacationers dreaming of the Italian seacoast and Italy's beaches for a few days. So try to plan your Italy vacation or Italy train travel around this date.
Another one of Motorino Man's favorite festivals in Italy is the Feast of Corpus Christi. We like to be in Spello for the L'infiorata, which are flower mosaics that take days to create from local flowers and cover the streets, which flower mosaics are then walked on by the proccession on festival day.
Click below to check out video Italy Right Now June for much more about June festivals in Italy.

Cinque Terre by Boat: Explore Liguria by Sea
Cinque Terre, Liguria Italy in spring is an excellent time to explore the rugged Ligurian coast between Genoa and Portovenere by boat. Arrive in these jewel sized ports along the Italian Riviera like the mariners have for 3000 years. The seaside hamlets of Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, and Monterosso al Mare are vestiges of life lived locally and seasonally - slowly. Enjoy the photogenic Ligurian coast by boat relaxing and smelling the pines that top off the the hills or by hiking the trails that connect the five towns giving it its name Cinque Terre.
Outside the five towns up in the hills are the vineyards that fill the terraced gardens on mountain sides, which cut directly into the sea. These hills above the towns are famous for Ligurian white wine, made from the grapes that grow in the vineyards on the terraced slopes above the Ligurian sea, which fill the mountain sides. The Etruscans traded here with the ancient Chinese and ancient Egyptians, sharing advanced ideas and advanced cultures, adopting the best practises the Etruscans and Liguri people live in these hills what is today known as the Mediterranean lifestlye. For more video about Liguria checkout WebVisionItaly's Liguria channel.
To preserve this land, the government has declared the Cinque Terre a national park. For about $10 dollars per day visitors may hike the trail connecting all five towns, a trek that takes about five hours. If you opt to walk be careful on the trails. Wet trails are dangerous. Sunscreen etc. a must!

Fiat Chrylser - US and Canadian Unions Approve Deal
(ANSA) Rome, April 22 - American and Canadian car unions have approved a deal between Chrysler and Fiat, paving the way for the deal to go through, an Italian car union leader told ANSA Wednesday.
''The accord with the US and Canadian unions has been reached...and with the federal government which has pledged, given everyone's readiness, to persuade the creditor banks to accept the deal,'' said Bruno Vitali of Fim-CISL.He said the deal was ''90% ready'' and might even be announced by Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne later Wednesday.Vitali said he had had a long talk in Detroit earlier Wednesday with United Auto Workers leader Ron Gettelfienger.
President Barack Obama has given Chrysler until May 1 to strike a deal with Fiat in order to have access to further federal bail-out funds and avoid bankruptcy.The deal in part hinges on unions and lenders accepting stock in Chrysler in exchange for the debt owed to them.An accord draft leaked to the press indicated that unions would take a 20% stake in Chrysler, the same as Fiat's initial stake, as payment for half their pension fund.Marchionne is also asking unions to accept wage cuts to bring labor costs in line with those in other plants in the US producing foreign cars, in states where the unions have less power.The leaked draft also indicated that Marchionne would serve as CEO for both Fiat and Chrysler, while the US automaker would have an American chairman of the board.In this case, it is not clear what would happen to Chrysler's current CEO, Bob Nardelli.Marchionne has been credited for what Obama has described as Fiat's ''impressive'' turnaround in the last few years and the authoritative daily Financial Times last week likened him to a ''superhero'' in a ''Chrysler cliffhanger''.
According to the draft accord, if a partnership is created then Fiat, unions and a federally appointed trust would name a future seven-man Chrysler board.The federal trust would initially hold a significant stake in Chrysler, in exchange for the bail-out funds, including a 15% share which Fiat would receive in 5% instalments as it meets production milestones.Fiat is offering its cutting-edge green technology and platforms for small cars in exchange for as much as 35% of Chrysler but it is likely to be also given an option to acquire up to 49% or more, once the bail-out loans have been repaid.The Italian automaker is keen to strike a deal with Chrysler because it would have access to its plants and dealerships in order to allow it to return to the American market, initially with Alfa Romeo and the trendy Fiat 500 city car.Chrysler, in turn, would have access to Fiat's facilities in Europe and Latin America.

Rome Trattoria: Ristorante Virginiae, Centro Storico Rome
Cucina Romana Virginiae is an authentic Roman trattoria near the Piazza Navona, off via del Governo Vecchio, on Via della Pace in Rome. Virginiae is a family-run Roman-style trattoria restaurant serving delicious home cooked authentic Roman lunch and dinner. Antipasto includes grilled vegetables, which I like to follow with Roman pasta like bucatini all'amatriciana or cacio e pepe, two pasta favorites when in Rome. After the pasta, when in Rome, try the veal with wine and sage, the veal scallopini or my favorite - veal saltimbocca, which is veal with prosciutto and sage topped with a white wine reduction. When in Rome's centro storico near the Piazza Navona take a break from the Bernini walking tour at ristorante Virginiae. Click for a map to Ristorante Virginiae.

Verona is only one hour and 30 minutes by train from Venice.
Verona is a wonderful day trip from Venice although longer than a Venice day trip to Vicenza, which is about one hour by train, or a Venice day trip to Padua, which is only 35 minutes by train from Venice. Venice is a magical city but with so many desitnations around Venice the traveler is wise to spend a few days around Venice to explore the Veneto region in Italy before moving on to Italy's other two of the big three, Florence and Rome. Below Isabella Dusi introduces WebVisionItaly.com viewers to Verona.

- Palazzo Thiene, which Palladio turned into a Palladio building although Palladio was not the original architect;
- The Basilica Palladiana, centrally located in Vicenza's Piazza dei Signori, of which Palladio himself that it might stand comparison with any similar work of antiquity;

- Palazzo Chiericati, home of Vicenza's museum;
- Palazzo Barbaran Da Porto;
- Palazzo Da Porto Breganze;

- Villa Gazzotti Grimani, in the frazione Bertesina.
Venice Italy Travel: City of Merchants and Traders
Venice is a magical city in the region of Veneto Italy, whose people, the Venetians live in the sea among 400 islands. This city has always been a mercantile city. Piazza San Marco is the center of Venice and one of Europe's largest squares. A visit to Venice, one of Italy's maritime powerhouses, is to learn about how the context and physical location of Venice had everything to do with its rise to wealth and mercantilism. As Malcolm Gladwell recently wrote in outlines, so much of success is predicated on context, location, and timing. In Venice this is certainly the case.
By living literally in the sea Venetians spent time looking outward with an open mind toward what was to be discovered in the Mediterranean and in the case of Marco Polo as far away as China. While the church was running its crusades Marco Polo was trading with Arabs and Asians, bringing spices, silks, jewels, and of course pasta back to Venice in the 12th century. The merchants of Venice such as Murano Glass is another example of the Venetians taking best practices from around the Mediterranean and Adriatic seas and incorporating them into their glass making style and process to create something uniquely Venetian. At the same time continental Europeans were not equipped to invade a sea-land empire to steal the wealth giving Venice the time and space it need to grow into the world's richest city. Inevitably Venice's location and its efect on the Venetians led to the Venetian's success in commerce and trade with foreign cultures and people. Venice is another example from the Italic peninsula of how importing the best practises of the cultures they traded with and then putting a unique stamp leads to long term success and prosperity, much like the Romans, and the Etrucans before them who created the first United Nations and League of Nations in 500 BC, created their own wealth and success.

Italy Recovers Stolen Art Dating to 16th Century
Italy police recover stolen masterpieces
By ARIEL DAVID – 23 hours ago
ROME (AP) — Italian police have recovered 10 masterpieces, including a painting attributed to an artist who worked on the Sistine Chapel, that were stolen in 2004 from an ancient religious complex in Rome, officials said Tuesday.
The most important among the recovered works is the "Sacred Family," depicting Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus. The work has been attributed to 16th-century artist Parmigianino. However, Rome museum official Claudio Strinati later told reporters that it was more likely the work of Flemish master Hendrick van den Broeck, a friend of Parmigianino who also decorated the entrance of the Sistine Chapel, best known for the frescoes painted there by Michelangelo.
Strinati is an expert in 16th-century art.
